Cunningham & Associates Advises Tecton Architects in Partnership with Hunter Forest Capital's Agathos AEC Platform
Sell-side advisor sourced the partner and managed the transaction through closing, bringing a premier Hartford architecture practice onto a national A&E platform
WORCESTER, Mass., Aug. 26, 2026 — Cunningham & Associates has announced that it served as exclusive sell-side M&A advisor to Tecton Architects, P.C. in its partnership with Agathos AEC, Inc., the national architecture and engineering platform backed by Hunter Forest Capital LLC. Cunningham & Associates advised Tecton throughout the process, sourced Hunter Forest as the right partner, and managed the transaction and diligence process through closing.
Cunningham & Associates helped Tecton's leadership find what it was looking for in a next chapter, and knew the Agathos platform was building toward exactly the kind of design-led practice Tecton represents. The firm brought the two sides together and managed the transaction and diligence process through closing, working alongside legal counsel at Prince Lobel. The result is Agathos' first pure-play architecture partner and its entry into the Northeast.
Founded in Hartford in 1979, Tecton is a multi-disciplinary firm providing architecture, interior design, and master planning. Its 50-plus-person team is licensed in 10 states, with offices in Connecticut and Rhode Island and a national reputation for high-performance, human-centric design across education, public safety, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, and corporate workplace. Landmark projects include a four-school building program for Barrington (RI) Public Schools, a new public safety headquarters for the City of Peabody, Massachusetts, and multiple mission-critical facilities for General Dynamics Electric Boat.
For Tecton, the partnership opens access to a national platform and a shared corporate team while its leadership stays in place. Executive principals Ted Cutler, Jeffrey Wyszynski, and Jeffery McElravy will continue to lead the firm, supported by a next generation of leaders stepping into expanded roles. Tecton's addition is expected to push Agathos into the top 350 of the Engineering News-Record (ENR) 500, a milestone reached barely six months after the platform's founding.
"Our client was a nearly 50-year-old firm with a lot to protect and a lot to gain from the right partner," said Ryan Foley, Senior Partner at Cunningham & Associates. "We found that partner in Hunter Forest and Agathos, and we ran the process end to end so Tecton's leadership could stay focused on their work and achieve the best possible outcome."
